As of October 29, 2021, 5.29 million unorganized sector workers have been registered in the e-Shram portal. The Social Security Unorganized Workers Act 2008

About 88% of workers work in the unorganized sector. However, they do not receive any social benefits. Welfare schemes are run by the central government for certain groups of unorganized workers such as Beedi workers, construction workers, etc. These schemes operate to provide social security to all these workers. The Contract Labor Act 1970

Contract workers are people hired by a contractor to work at a company for a specific job and duration. Contractors are employed by companies that employ workers. The Contract Labor Act 1970 is applied to prevent abuse of the company’s workers and to ensure a healthy working environment for them.

Interstate Migrant Workers Act 1979

This law ensures occupational safety in working conditions. The law applies to businesses and contractors that employ five or more international workers on any day for the previous 12 months. This law also provides for the registration of the establishment and the license for the contractor.

The Minimum Wage Act 1948

This law was created to improve wage standards. This law established a minimum wage to protect workers from low wages.

Bonded Labor Scheme Act 1976

In order to pay off his debt, the debtor or his descendant or dependent was forced into debt bondage to pay off his debt. This type of debt bondage was considered a crime by this law. The debt bondage system was abolished and a Presidential Decree was issued.

The Social Security Code

The aim of the Social Security Act is to provide social security to all employees and workers, whether organized or non-organized or in any other sector. Social security law has been amended and consolidated by this Code.

The code for wedges

This code aims to regulate the payment of wages and bonuses in all occupations involving industry, commerce, business or manufacture. This Code applies to all employees. The Occupational Safety, Health and Safety Code

Industrial Relations Code

E Shram Card Registration: Social Security System

Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana

This scheme provides the beneficiary with a minimum pension of ₹3000 after the age of 60. In the event of the beneficiary’s death, 50% of the pension portion is paid to the beneficiary’s spouse. In order to receive the benefit of Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana, the beneficiary must pay a premium per month ranging from ₹55 to ₹200. 50% of the premium amount is deposited by the beneficiary and 50% by the central government.

National pension scheme for shopkeepers, traders and the self-employed

Under this scheme, the beneficiary is paid a minimum pension of ₹3000 after the age of 60. To benefit from this program, the beneficiary must pay a premium between ₹55 and ₹200. 50% of the premium amount is deposited by the beneficiary and 50% is borne by the central government.

Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana

Prime Minister’s Security Insurance Scheme
